Gift Processor and Data Entry

Are you passionate about defending ocean wildlife?  Do you want to apply your computer skills to help whales, dolphins, and other marine animals swim free in our oceans?  Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is seeking a Gift Processor. The Gift Processor plays a key role in ensuring that the daily office operations of gift entry and acknowledgement run smoothly. The rightapplicant must work well independently and as part of a team. This position works closely with the Development Team to accurately manage all gifts, grants, pledges, and stock transactions received.  This position will manage data and gift entry, gift acknowledgement, and provide administrative support for the organization.  Experience with The Raiser’s Edge software a plus.  The right candidate will be passionate about our cause, demonstrate superb organizational skills, work well under pressure, meet deadlines effectively, be computer savvy, and have a positive attitude.  Must be willing to relocate to Friday Harbor, WA.  If you are this person, please email your resume with cover letter to application@seashepherd.org.


Web Developer/Designer

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) seeks a creative, hard-working, highly motivated person experienced with web development and graphic design to join our small, innovative and energetic staff. Candidates should share a strong commitment and desire to work for positive social change and must have a proven track record of managing projects independently while also being able to work with a team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with Executive team in planning, designing and developing interactive/dynamic web sites using open source CMS solutions such as Drupal and Joomla!
  • Updating and maintain existing web sites and provide tech support for partners with existing web sites/email (as needed)
  • Communicating internally among the team and externally by being in direct contact and nurturing relationships with our partners.

Skills:
Web Development

  • Experience and expertise with Drupal and/or Joomla! content management systems (preferred)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, web standards, and a Commitment to keeping current with emerging technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3.

Ability to set up e-commerce/shopping/merchant accounts

Familiarity with:

  • word press
  • open source software
  • mobile web
  • SEO
  • social media
  • Photoshop - Basic (asset handling)

Understanding of:

  • Best practices with web security
  • Web analytics and statistics (Keep up-to-date on Global trends and metrics).
  • Modern web programming issues

Bonus:
Experience with Graphic Design:

  • Experience designing for print and preparing documents for press (e.g. newsletters, annual reports, postcards, books, brochures, posters...)
  • Experience with developing branding and logo designs

Additional Preferences:

  • four-year college degree in computer science, business, engineering, or related field; or similar training
  • three to five years of web project management experience
  • ability to facilitate relations and solutions between different business units
  • identifies areas of improvement and proposes solutions
  • multi-tasking and action oriented
  • commitment to Sea Shepherd mission
  • ability to relocate to Friday Harbor, Washington
