What/who inspires you as an activist?
To preserve the natural beauties of the world is my main inspiration, people like Paul Watson inspire me a lot, to see someone that has dedicated his life to conservation, fighting against all odds and never backing down is pretty impressive to me.
I also find Jane Goodall to be very inspiring.
Favorite Shark(s) and why?
I like all sharks, but I like the whale shark very much because it is the biggest fish in the world and I also like nurse sharks just because I find them very friendly.
If you could tell people one thing about about sharks and/or the oceans, what would it be?
Sharks have been swimming in the oceans for as long as 400 million years, that is much before the dinosaurs. They have shaped marine life as we know it and are important to maintaining balance in marine ecosystems. Without them our own survival is in jeopardy.
Why are you on this campaign? What do you want to achieve?
The south pacific is very special place to me. I have sailed around these islands before and have enjoyed the natural wonders of this magical place. I look forward to see conservation being brought to the islands and I hope we can help to conserve this amazing ecosystem.
Tell us something surprising:
This is my second shark defence campaign with Sea Shepherd. The first one was in 2001 when we were protecting sharks in the Galapagos and Coco’s Islands.
I am a photographer and writer very passionate about conservation. I believe in a biocentric view of the world in oppose to the common held view that humans are the most important thing on this planet. There is a mass extinction going on on our watch, it is time to take action.
