Reflections on Christmas Day

Locky MacLean
Captain, Gojira

Locky MacleanJust weeks ago dozens of onshore volunteers were swarming around the Gojira assisting in last minute preparations to get us underway.  It is now Christmas Day, there is a crisp, cold bite in the air and we are far from land. Today, I phoned my grandparents in France and spoke with my 15-year-old sister Tatum in Canada, it was great to be able to hear their support.  Although they are always in my thoughts, I cannot think of any place I would rather be than at sea with my crew being tossed around in the Southern Ocean’s swells looking for the whale poachers.

Our crew must rely on each other at every moment, especially on such a fast and small vessel but with our strongly knit crew, I know we can achieve greatness for the campaign this season.  For all of you who donated your time, funds, and energy to making Sea Shepherd campaigns a reality: THANK YOU for your invaluable support.  You are also part of our crew, and although you are on land, we couldn't have made it this far without you.

Happy Holidays!
