Cook, Bob Barker
It is day 28 in the Operation No Compromise campaign and we continue working. The galley team is still making three meals a day along with snacks and desserts. We prepared a vegan feast for Christmas. The engineers keep the engine purring like a lioness that keeps us afloat. The bridge crew keeps a watchful eye on our surroundings as they lead us towards the pristine waters that provide life to all of us including the whales. The deck team maintains all of the otherworldly functions that keep us going day after day. I am happily proud to be a part of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society’s crew on the Bob Barker.
The past few days have kept me quite busy and entertained. After a full day’s work in the galley, I moved to the forecastle (the workshop) to work on my gift for the secret Santa gift exchange. Oh man, the time it takes for an idea to become a tangible gift and something you actually want to give to someone seems to be a long process. My respect goes out to all of the artists and the creators of artistic beauty worldwide!
The only downfall to making presents is that this process reminds me of the people in my life back home that I love and miss so dearly. No blueberry muffin can remedy this feeling. My younger brother got married just a week ago and my sister e-mailed to tell me it was a beautiful and happy celebration. I'm truly sorry I couldn't be there but I hope they understand why.
Happy holidays to those who celebrate them, and happy days in general to those who don't.
