German Whale Defender Scores Big for the Whales

Jurgen Ortmueller has been fighting the bloody Faeroese whale hunt for years now and he has been an energetic and resourceful ally for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

His most recent action was to organize a demonstration in front of the German Football Union's office in Frankfurt, Germany. This demonstration coincided with the match in the Faeroes between the German and Faeroese football teams on June 11.

Tagging the issue to a sporting event worked quite well and the demonstration was covered on National German television and reported in the German Press Agency. The cruel bloody pictures of the Faeroese coldly butchering the whales were splashed across the German media.

Jurgen is now in Berlin, taking his campaign to protect the pilot whales from the Faeroese butchers to the 55th Annual meeting of the International Whaling Commission.
