Whale Wars launch party in New York
Reported by Jonny Vasic, Director of TV, Film & Video Production
Sea Shepherd Staff and Crew members were very excited to attend the premiere party for Animal Planet's new series Whale Wars.
This new seven-part, hour-long weekly series follows the crew of the Sea Shepherd vessel, Steve Irwin during Sea Shepherd's Antarctic Whale Defense Campaign: Operation Migaloo in 2007/08.
We were very honored to be in attendance at the party in NY as Marjorie Kaplan, President and General Manager for Animal Planet introduced the show by saying what an exciting series she thinks it is. At the conclusion of the clip from the show, the crowd cheered very loud. Kaplan then introduced Paul Watson who spoke about us returning back down to the Whale Sanctuary to once again confront the Whalers. Kaplan also announced that Animal Planet will once again journey with Sea Shepherd for season two of Whale Wars.
The show focuses on the Sea Shepherd crew's dedication to end illegal whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary. The series documents the amazing three-month campaign across the icy waters of the Antarctic. It airs for seven consecutive weeks starting November 7th at 9pm ET/PT (Check local listings, times may vary depending on your satellite/cable provider). We are very thrilled that millions of people around the world will have a chance to see the dedication of the Sea Shepherd crew and staff and the risk and personal sacrifice that they take to protect the whales.
