Detroit Spring Boating Expo

The 19th Annual Spring Boating Expo was hosted by the Michigan Boating Industry Association and was held at the
Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. The MBIA donated our booth and Arts Crafts Display Inc gladly
donated the booth furnishings, so a huge “Thank You” goes out to them both!

Turnout was low over the four-day event but we met some great people who really enjoyed watching our screenings of “The Cove,” “Pirate For The Sea” and all three seasons of “Whale Wars” as well as the South Park episode of “Whale Whores.”

We also received visits from Sponge Bob-Square Pants, the Detroit Tigers mascot “Paws” (both supporters of the SSCS); as well as a crewmember of the F/V Time Bandit from the TV show “Deadliest Catch,” Travis Lofland, whom turns out to also be a supporter of the SSCS and all that we do.

The show was tabled by the Detroit Regional Coordinator Mark Parsons along with area onshore volunteers Jen Aycock, Patrick Hawley, Emily Joy, and Jay & Mary Forman.
