Whale Protection Day Gold Coast, Australia September 30, 2006   September 30, 2006 - Whale Protection Day - Gold Coast, Australia On September 30th over 600 people came out to show that whales worth watching really are whales worth saving. Sponsored by the Gold Coast Whale Watch & Conservation Society, we had a day filled with humpback whales spy hopping, breaching and tail slapping all around us. Everybody that came out on this beautiful day had a magical experience as the whales did not disappoint. Sea Shepherd volunteers on each of the five whale watching boats handed out literature and International Director, Jonny Vasic spoke to the whale watchers about Sea Shepherd’s work as marine conservationists and our commitment to saving the gentle giants of the deep.
