Dear Director,

My name is ________ and I am the vacation coordinator for a family
vacation group in the US. This letter is to inform you that, after
learning your government has again sponsored another annual slaughter of
seals, our vacation group has decided to CANCEL our entire Canadian trip
scheduled for this summer. Our vacation group is made up of 32 adults
and 14 children. Our plans this year were to visit many Canadian
attractions and cities from Toronto to Montreal and then up to Quebec
and the Labrador coast. We were all very excited. 

Unfortunately, after seeing the footage of your so called fisherman
clubbing and slaughtering helpless seal pups while other seals are
forced to watch in horror before meeting the same fate, it was too much
for any of us to ignore. The entire group voted unanimously to cancel on
Canada and find a new destination; an inconvenience we were all willing
to endure if it meant keeping our money out of Canada’s economy. You
should also know it was the children too that insisted we go anywhere
else but Canada. Some of the younger children were so upset by what they
saw, they could not stop crying and others are having nightmares about
the seals. 

In addition, we are not just going to cancel our trip and forget about
the carnage sponsored by your country. The entire group also intends to
ban all seafood and any other Canadian products until your government
puts a stop to the slaughter. Our vacation group may be small but it
includes many influential people. These include 5 schoolteachers, a
minister, several Masons and an employee of the national media. 

All of us are committed to informing our friends, family, students, work
associates and anyone else who’ll listen of what your government is
doing to the seals. If you think this is an issue that only
environmentalist and animal rights activists care about, YOU’RE DEAD
WRONG! None of us are Vegetarian. None of us are members of any
environmental organization. We are ALL fisherman and some of us are also
responsible hunters, including myself. We are parents and we are
professionals. And we are ALL appalled that this takes place in
neighboring Canada.

Your seal hunt is not a "hunt"; it’s a mass murder of wildlife with
clubs and spikes. This is an issue of morality. The Canadian seal hunt
is an act of pure violence, which must stop now! Frankly, we are stunned
that Canada would sponsor such a primitive and inhumane treatment of its
wildlife, regardless of profit. 

Therefore, we will now do everything in our power to see that Canada
lose all of its profits from the seal hunting, to lost tourism and lost
export sales.
