Another week of Bloodshed in the Cove

The latest victims in the CoveThe latest victims in the CoveOn Wednesday, November 16, eight or so banger boats found a pod of dolphins really close to shore to the south. The dolphin killers drove a pod of 6-7 Risso’s dolphins into the Cove, and immediately started to brutally kill them. By 9:45 that morning, a family of Risso’s dolphins were all killed. Within three-and-a-half hours, these beautiful dolphins went from swimming freely in their ocean home to senselessly losing their lives at the hands of a group of men who has no respect for live and who hide their cruel deeds behind their so-called culture.

During the week, on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, the dolphin killers went out as usual, but returned emptyhanded. On Thursday, we saw the killers find two separate pods. One pod quickly outsmarted the dolphin killers and got away, the second pod was driven quite close to the harbor area entrance, but also managed to escape. We watched the banger boats return to harbor emptyhanded once again with absolute joy. On Saturday, heavy rains and gale force winds made sure the dolphin killers did not go out to hunt for dolphins. On Sunday, the wind out to sea was still strong enough to keep the boats in harbor.

Also this week, two of the false killer whales that were originally captured about a month ago, were moved to their new miserable lifestyle of captivity into pens at the Dolphin Base resort.

Cove Guardian Thomas managed to get photos of dolphin/whale meat being processed by one of the biggest dolphin and whale meat buyer’s and distributors in Taiji. Thomas later managed to find out that this man was busy processing fin whale meat imported from Iceland. The man got upset and tried to stop Thomas from taking photos by grabbing Thomas’ arm with bloodied hands. The police was called to the scene and they said that although taking photos is not illegal, we should not invade people’s privacy. The police then courteously escorted Thomas back to the pier where the rest of us were keeping an eye on the dolphin pens.
