Report from Taiji: November 9 (new video)
Ravage, Despoil, Destroy
On this day, the molesters chose eight for enslavement. Anyone associated with dolphinariums has blood on their hands. Anyone who patronizes a captive dolphin commercial enterprise is supporting the slaughter of dolphins and the devastation of an extended family group. We need to stop the demand in order to stop the supply. Just say no!
In the process of examining dolphins to determine if they are “fit” for servitude, two were drowned. It seems that the “loving” trainers hold dolphins underwater to make them more docile and easier to load onto slings. Well, two of them did not make it and were left to float upside down in the killing cove. See the video (it may take a day or two to get this video transferred and up on this site, check back to see it). This is how the “happy” dolphins get from the wild to your local dolphinarium.
We know the criteria the molesters (trainers) use to determine if a particular dolphin is to be destined for the captive trade. But what are the criteria for selecting which ones live and which ones become dinner? Of the approximately 100 dolphins pushed into the cove yesterday, about 40 were slaughtered and the remaining 50 or so (except for the eight sent to the pens) were pushed back out towards the sea.
When the survivors took off, several of them jumped high out of the water. It was amazing to watch, and then we saw the two juveniles who did not run with the pod. These two swam back into the bloody waters looking for their mothers who had either been imprisoned or slaughtered. Perhaps it was their own mothers’ blood in which they swam. Without their mothers, these two were doomed. They met their fate sooner rather than later though when the molesters slew them.
Whoever told the molesters their work is honorable, lied to them. Dolphin molesters (trainers the world over are included in this category) dishonor themselves, their families, their communities, and their nations. The Taiji molesters shame the people of Japan. All of this carnage for a few local jobs; are you insane as well as cruel? What about the people here who know, but say and do nothing?Take a close look at your hands. They are red with the dripping blood of dolphins.
The molesters prepare evermore-elaborate methods and devices in a vain attempt to hide their shame. Here is an idea, get an honest job.
You can help. In addition to the frustration they are feeling with our presence is the pressure they are feeling from the constant phone calls, emails, and letters everyone is sending to the Japanese embassies and consulates around the world. Keep it up. Every time dolphins are pushed into the cove, let them have it. Every time there is blood in the water, let them have it. Do not grow weary for you are being heard.
Spread the word, send donations to Sea Shepherd to fund the Cove Guardian campaign, avoid all travel to Japan except to become a Cove Guardian with us here in Taiji, make good consumer choices regarding whether or not to purchase Japanese products, and ensure that you do everything you can to keep the pressure on the Japanese authorities and your own governments. It is unfortunate that the reputation of an entire nation is being tarnished by the evil and shameful deeds of a handful of men and women in Taiji. To join us (voluntarily, and completely at your own cost and risk) in Taiji, write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will get back to you, but please be patient. I cannot keep an eye on the Cove and answer email at the same time.
