Report from Taiji: November 3
The dolphin hunting boats stayed in port today. Yesterday’s meeting and Sea Shepherd’s presence in Taiji was widely reported in the Japanese media. A couple of TV reporters remained here and interviewed us again today.
Have you ever stopped at a Circle K convenience store to pick up some items on your way home? Circle K, a US company, has stores in many parts of the world. Well, the next time you do stop at a Circle K, check out the whale meat. Whale is on the shelf at the Circle K in Taiji, Japan.
Larabar heard about our mission in Taiji and made a rush donation of Larabars. Libby brought some of them to us when she arrived last night. The others are being shipped to the Cove Guardians. It is not that easy to be a vegetarian here and for the vegans with us, it is almost impossible. Thanks Larabar. Your generosity will help to keep us going.
Two new Cove Guardians joined us today. Libby is in from Bellingham, Washington (USA), and Rupert is in from Melbourne, Australia.
Cove Guardians are making a difference, but that difference would not be possible if you all were not keeping up the pressure on the Japanese government. We will continue here for the rest of this season and will be back next September should the dolphin season begin anew. Being a Cove Guardian is direct action you can do, and in doing, you will make a difference and change your life.
You can help. Spread the word, send donations to the Sea Shepherd Cove Guardian campaign, join in the Worldwide Anti-Whaling Day on November 5, avoid all travel to Japan except to become a Cove Guardian with us here in Taiji, make good consumer choices regarding whether or not to purchase Japanese products, and ensure that you do everything you can to keep the pressure on the Japanese authorities. It is unfortunate that the reputation of an entire nation is being tarnished by the evil and shameful deeds of a handful of men and women in Taiji. To join us (voluntarily, and completely at your own cost and risk) in Taiji, write to me at email@example.com. I will get back to you, but please be patient. I cannot keep an eye on the Cove and answer email at the same time.
