Captain Peter Hammarstedt was delighted to be in Hobart, which is considered to be the gateway to Antarctica, for our Hobart event on Friday night. This is a town which SSCS receives a huge amount of support - which is incredible! With a frontline of Bob Brown, Peter Hammarstedt and Jeff Hansen the Hobart community did not let us down. This event was fantastic and full of genorousity for the Whales Navy. Thank you Hobart!
Thursday 19th April John Butler Rocks Hobart
Last night Hobart coordinator Anna and crew member Chantelle "Chilli" attended John Butlers gig at the Federation Hall. It was a great night and John constantly mentioned his love for Sea Shepherd during his show. Thank you John for allowing Sea Shepherd to be a part of your tour in so many of our chapters in Australia and good luck with the rest of your tour.

Saturday 25th February Salamanca Markets.
The Hobart Chapter of Sea Shepherd had an awesome time last weekend at their first stall back under the leadership of new coordinator Anna Kingston. They met some great people, and they enlightened a lot more Tasmanians about how they can protect the world’s oceans. Thanks to all our supporters who gave donations and braved the heat to come down to Salamanca Market, It is greatly appreciated. Well done Tassie.

December 2011, Sea Shepherd Crew visit Local Primary Schools in Hobart
Sea Shepherd crew Sara and Mikey paid a visit to St Virgils College Junior School and Lauderdale Primary School in December and spoke to the school's about Marine Conservation and why Sea Shepherd protect the oceans. The kids were very excited about this visit and had wonderful questions for Sara and Mikey. Sara and Mikey answered loads of great questions the kids had about why people can go and do this to animals and the environment and no-one from the Government will stand up and say this is not right. The visit was a round up of the children learning about the environment and also eco-systems and how to preserve and protect these precious animals that live amongst these environments.
Sara and Mikey also made a special visit to on shore crew volunteer Anna Kingston's children's classes. The children in these classes are all 6 and 7 year olds and out of all the visits the questions they asked were the most raw and innocent. One girl plainly said to Mikey and Sara, “Well, if the Japanese are not allowed to kill the whales, why do they still do it?”. The other day Anna's daughter Zali spoke with Santa and asked him not to give the Japanese whalers any Xmas presents until they stop killing whales and dolphins.....A big thank you to Anna for organising these school visits.

Thank you Hobart
Sea Shepherd would like to say a big "Thank You" to the people of Hobart for the generous amounts of wonderful food donations made to our crew on the M/V Bob Barker while it was docked there. Many individuals and local businesses filled their cars and trucks with much needed supplies for our crew.
There are 88 Volunteer crew onboard all three of our vessels and we are very grateful to the people of Hobart to have three cooked meals a day to keep them going while in the Southern ocean.
Thanks again Hobart!
May 21st, 2010 Alley Way Show
The crew of the ‘Bob Barker’ and local volunteers were invited to set up a stall at the opening of a popular Hobart street art exhibition. Interest was keen among the art community and a great night was had by all.
March 7th - 13th, 2010 Hobart Welcomes 'MV Steve Irwin' and 'MV Bob Barker'
With the end of the highly successful ‘Operation Waltzing Matilda’, Hobart welcomed the return of the Sea Shepherd vessels to port. Onshore volunteers ensured that information and merchandise stalls were displayed prominently opposite the ships to capitalise upon the enormous interest among tourists and media. Thousands of dollars were raised at a series of events over the course of several days, the undoubted highlight of which was the impassioned address by Captain Paul Watson to supporters at the Long Gallery on Hobart’s picturesque Salamanca waterfront.

January 16th, 2010 Anti-Whaling Rally
The people of Hobart turned out en-masse to protest the unlawful ramming and sinking of the Sea Shepherd vessel ‘Ady Gil’ and show their support to try and help stop the killing of whales in our Southern Oceans.
Organiser and chief speaker Megan Jolley ensured that prominent Australians such as Senator Bob Brown were given the opportunity at this event to address the national and international media regarding this appalling act by the Japanese whaling fleet. Speakers also included local and international scientists who shared their knowledge of the Southern Ocean marine life and their experience working and Antarctica. The anti-whaling concept along with the educational component combined together to form a very successful, passionate and peaceful rally enjoyed by all.
