The Steve Irwin Returns to Australia

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's ship, the Steve Irwin, dropped anchor off of Williamstown near Melbourne at noon on Saturday, March 15, 2008 officially ending the 2007-2008 campaign to protect and defend whales from illegal Japanese whaling activities in the Southern Ocean.

Sea Shepherd's 2007-2008 Whale Defense Campaign: Operation Migaloo was an epic voyage and an extremely effective campaign. Sea Shepherd engaged in numerous confrontations with the Japanese whalers, and exposed the issue of illegal Japanese whaling to the entire world — especially in Japan where for the first time Japanese whaling was a frequent news topic in the media.

The Steve Irwin is currently docked at Victoria Harbor in Melbourne.
